This half term, Year 4 have been learning about World War One. We were really lucky that Mr Bartlham came to visit. He showed us lots of different artefacts from the war, including barbed wire cutter, a shell and lead shrapnel and newspapers that people 100 years ago would have read.
Just before the half term, a world war 1 soldier came to visit us. He told us what life was like in the trenches and even brought in a replica rifle used as a weapon during the war. He told us that men were often persuaded to join the army and anyone who didn't, would be given a white feather. Everyone who saw him with the feather would shout 'Coward!' Later we went to the playground to play a pass the rations game which was good fun.
