It is the job of the professional staff at school to provide the children’s education, but it is the Governing Body’s job to provide the strategic framework in which this takes place and to hold the Head Teacher and staff accountable for the standards achieved. We must act as a ‘critical friend’ to the Head Teacher by setting targets and priorities and agreeing policies and procedures.
The whole Governing Body shares responsibility for the school’s relationships with the children’s parents, but a Parent Governor is appointed with a special duty to reflect the views of parents at Governing Body meetings. If you wish to contact our parent Governor, please contact the school office who will put you in contact with him.
At St. George’s School you will find a team of committed and hardworking staff making sure that the needs and aspirations of the community for its children are being taken into account. The teaching and support staff expect every child to work hard and achieve his or her best. This is a well led and managed school that works closely with parents helping children to make good progress in school and to become mature and responsible as they move to secondary school
Schools know a lot about teaching and learning, but parents are the experts in their own children, after all, parents are their children’s first teachers.
