Year 2
Welcome to Year 2!
Your teachers are Miss Drayton, Pat and Jean.
School Dinners
All the children in Year 2 are entitled to a school meal every day.
P.E. Lessons
P.E. lessons will be on Wednesdays every week. Please make sure your child comes to school on a Wednesday wearing their P.E. kit.
Spellings
Spellings will be given out on Thursdays and will need to be learned for a test the following Thursday.
Collins Little Wandle e-books, home readers and Library Books
Some children will be allocated a weekly e-book that can be accessed via the Collins website.
https://ebooks.collinsopenpage.com
This will be at the correct phonic stage for your child: this book is matched to the letters and sounds that your child can rapidly recall and blend together. Your child should be able to read this fluently and independently.
The school’s expectation is that your child reads this book three times over the week.
If you are trying access these books via a phone or i-Pad, you may need to download the e-books app.
Other children will be given a 'home reader' which can be changed as often as is needed. This is for children who can read fluently.
The children will also get the chance to choose a book from the school Library once a week. This book is a ‘reading for pleasure’ book and should be shared with an adult at home.
Phonics
In Key Stage 1 children continue to be taught phonics using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds, Revised. Listed below are some useful resources.
