Children will be involved in the schools 'Accelerated Reader' scheme. This involves children quizzing on a book once they have completed it to assess their understanding. Year 3 can visit the school library during break time and lunch time with a library pass as well as during silent reading after lunch. Reading at home is encouraged.
Ancient Greek Discovery Day
On Thursday 5th December, Year 3 held an Ancient Greece Day as part of our Discover term. Everyone looked fantastic dressed in togas and traditional laurel wreath crowns that we made in class. Even Miss Duggins and Jean dressed up!
In the morning, we had our very own St George’s Olympics (with Mr Eaton’s help) with events including the long jump, relay racing, javelin throwing and chariot racing.
Year 3 also made traditional Greek hummus for the day and in the afternoon, parents were invited to come in and try this with their children.
Parents and children then worked together to make decorative mobiles using the Greek alphabet to write their names. We had a lot of fun!
